WOW! Look how long its been!

Not quite a year has passed...and amen...I'm still here to talk about it.  I'm at such a happy place in life...with a new grandbaby, Raina's med school graduation and new independence...and retirement in the near future.  Wow!  I joined weight watchers Dec 29th 2011.  Its my belief that I'll be a member for a very long time.  I enjoy going.  I enjoy the meetings.  I like the teacher.  and its very thought provoking.  I've lost 20 pounds since then...very slowly..but on average 1 lb. per week.  Guess that means I havent made any major changes in my life...but that every small change helps!  I'm certainly not eating sweets like I used to...and have learned to shop primarily on the periphery of the grocery store.  Need to really think if I need to go down the aisles.  That means much more fresh fruit and vegs.  I've bargained with the teacher at WW to lose 10 lbs by the 4th of July.  Thats a 6 week time frame.  At my rates...6 pounds might be better...but I'm going to give it a whirl.

Overall.  Life is good.  What more can we ask for?!

Hospital Day

Granny's sugery is today...and I'm expecting that all will go well.  I've been pondering "makin' the life change", and wondered what it might be like if my life change went totally the opposite way that my cheering section is hoping for!  What if I turned into a drunken floozy that kept all kinds of hours and did all kinds of things...not the socially acceptable ones!  :o)----<

But no....I probably dont have that in me.  Just got done watching sara ferguson boohoo on tv about what a mess she's made of her life.  guess we all make choices...some not as good as others. I havent forgot about my blog...and the diet is weighing heavy on my mind....just wanted to let you all know that.

Well, Hello, Dollies....

Ok, my dear princesses...here I am...at the blog post again.  I confess, I've had 3 beers today...or maybe it was just two...yeah, I think that's right.  Had 2 dinner rolls with some shipshe cheese and now am planning a pretty healthy dinner.  Pork tenderloin, with roasted asparagus tips and roasted brussel sprouts.

As I cleaned my closets, I found a pair of jeans that I wore when I lost a ton of pounds after having been on nothing but a liquid diet for about 10 weeks.(and that didnt include beer--I might as well as had my jaws wired.)

Anyway...I've saved these jeans for 20 years...not as incentive -- because I figure that I'll never be that small again....but just as proof that I once was!  They are marked a size 12, but I dont know if either of you would fit into them either!  Many things have gone through my head upon seeing them.  1.  We need to be happy with who and what we are.  2.  We can always hope to improve ourselves, but we also need to be realistic--and I dont mean defeatist.  Do I wish I was that size?  No not necessarily.  Do I wish I was smaller?  Sure..who doesnt?

anyway.  I am a bit incentivized to lose some of my poundage by October when I go to Hawaii.   We'll see how it works.  I'll do what I can ... and try not to beat myself up in the meantime...hopefully no one else beats me up either!!!  ;0)

8 days later....

wow...didnt realize even though you all reminded me...that its been a week!  wow!  had my sleep study last night...they woke me up 3 times to readjust my mouthpiece...hopefully its were it should be now.  My O2 sats went into the 80's and after adjustments was in the 90's.  Sounds good to me!  Think I may adjust a bit more for good luck!  :)  Came home and slept 3 more hours and now am feeling like a real person.  Staying home today.  Going to pay some bills, sew and yes, exercise.  I'm going to try me we a bit, and then, energy permitting may spin the cycle just a bit.  Sounds a bit lofty...but I'm going to try anyway!  Am eating my lunch while I'm writing.  Barb Snyder gave me a tip..1/2 cup real oatmeal, cooked, and mixed with yogurt.  A bit of nuts, or fruit to make the consistency more interesting.  I added a small bit of grapenuts to give it crunch.  Comes to 250 cals, fiber, and is very filling.  I've finished 1/2 and am pretty full already but I will finish so that I stay full.

whatever day it is!?!?!?!

Ok...pretty much have finished a week.  Time to re-assess....not that I havent been doing that all week.

Things didnt go exactly as planned...but overall, I'm still satisfied.  Forgot to weigh today... will have to do that for SURE in the morning.  Havent changed my work hours yet...had too many things to catch up on...and a couple times have wasted my time with video games.  Need to force a stop to that!  The other negative is that I havent really done much in terms of exercise.  I did the Wii one day and was happy with that...but must do more...will set a goal of at least 3 times this week.  Realized that Tuesdays are near to impossible, with Becky here in the morning...and Thursday mornings, with JMV home is not likely either...so my plan must be for Mon Wed and Fri mornings, prior to work.  Will set my alarm for 7 on those days and spend at least 30 mins doing something.


I found a GREAT free calorie counter app for my phone.  I LOVE IT!  It tracks your food daily, weekly, as well as your weight, exercise.  It also has a bar code reader for your ready made foods and a food search for restaurants, regular foods, and grocery store brands!  Theres nothing missing!  Have started using that on Wed and have been quite faithful with entering my foods.  I try to pick "generous" calorie listings so that I'm not
cheating on anything.  I even calculated what I had at the restaurant last night WHILE we were there...and barcode scanned my beer bottle!  My daily intake has been averaging in the 1400-1500 calorie range and I've had little to no in between snacking.  That in itself is a major change for me!

Overall, I'm quite pleased with my week.

Day 4!!!!

I've made it this far..and feel quite successful!  I've not snacked on anything between meals all this week...downfall being at home at 6:00pm.  Rest of days have been fine.  Had cheese soup and chopped salad for dinner last night and a tall beer.  Probably could have made better choices, but overall....day went well.  Today I found a cool app on my phone where I can calculate/tabulate my daily calories!  Its really cool...I can even scan in bar codes to something I've eaten!  Today, for lunch I had special K cereal, skim milk and Yogurt for lunch!  The cereal and yogurt both scanned in!  So cool!  6pm, was still in office, so I had 2 pieces of beef jerky and am still quite satisfied now..at 7:30.  Headed to the grocery store for rotisserie chkn and salad fixin's.

I weight in today...am down 4 pounds.  YIPPEE!
